It was a busy Labor Day weekend for Luke Fenhaus, who hit up four different race tracks in four days.  The 15-year-old raced at State Park Speedway Thursday night, Golden Sands Speedway Friday night, Dells Raceway Park Saturday night and closed out the weekend at Slinger Super Speedway on Sunday.

“We tried to keep our head focused on each race and take it one race at a time,” said Fenhaus.  “We tried to get through each night and do well at every race, then focus on the next one.”

During his tour through Central and Southern Wisconsin, Fenhaus faired well, picking up third-place finishes at State Park, Golden Sands and Slinger. He also added a fast time at Slinger along the way.

“Each race was pretty decent and we had pretty solid finishes,” said Fenhaus.  “I was happy with what we accomplished, especially at Slinger.”

Each night told its own story, but in the four-race stretch, Fenhaus never finished outside of the top six.

“At Slinger we were really close, we just couldn’t get underneath the guys and it was so hard to pass that it made it difficult to get around each other,” said Fenhaus.  “At State Park I just burned my stuff up too much at the end and should have settled right where we were.  At Golden Sands the 5 (Johnson) was really tough to beat and he could really drive into the corner and it would stick; I don’t think anyone else could do that Friday night. And Saturday at Dells we didn’t have a bad car, we were just really tight in the center and we couldn’t roll the center at all, but the 91 (Ty Majeski) was the dominant car and he showed it.”

Next-up for Fenhaus is Oktoberfest at La Crosse Speedway October 3rd-6th.
